Cracking Down on Relationships Between Physicians and Pharma

In this week’s Featured Podcast (number 5) we talk with Alan Reider of Arnold & Porter LLP about the Federal Physician Payment Sunshine Act (PPSA). Mr. Reider specializes in healthcare, regulatory, and compliance law and he walks us through a significant piece of legislation regarding the new transparency required in the relationships between physicians and pharmaceutical and medical device companies.

Although this legislation is primarily aimed at keeping these companies in check, there have been several high-profile cases involving medical practices who were receiving substantial remuneration in return for using certain drugs or medical devices.

It would behoove each practice to be aware of the basics of the PPSA and to ensure that all of the physicians are in compliance.
